Ginger Southall, D.C., known as, “Dr. Ginger” (www.drginger.com) is a board certified chiropractor that specializes in preventing and reversing disease through mind-body techniques, super-nutrition, detoxification, and other natural methods. Dr. Ginger is an internationally recognized author and expert on natural healing, nutrition, and fitness and has appeared on radio and television shows, including The Sam Sorbo Show, RadioMd, Fox News, and The Dr. Oz Show, among others.

A graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook and Alpha Epsilon Delta member, Dr. Ginger then earned her doctorate degree at New York Chiropractic College, and now specializes in helping to educate others to balance their bodies and resolve weight and health challenges with her three-pronged approach: 1. Dr. Ginger is known for her unique approach to turning around disease in as little as 30 days and strategically taming escalating health care costs in both Corporate America and the private sector. As a doctor of functional medicine and an authority on workplace wellness, Dr. Ginger is bucking the old system of “disease management” and is blazing a new trail with her “disease reversal” approach to corporate wellness, assisting Fortune 300 and 500 companies, country clubs and restaurants, and even professional and high school sports teams with their health challenges and inspiring radical behavioral changes in clients that translates into both lives and dollars saved.
Known for her “Fat Funeral Detox” and her “7-Day Online Fat Funeral Detox Nutrition Bootcamp” programs, Dr. Ginger gets the unhealthy back on the road to exceptional health and makes them fit for office and health literate in as little as 30 days. From high cholesterol to diabetes, obesity, gout, arthritis, and a host of other modern day diseases, Dr. Ginger asserts, “Your body, if given the proper tools, can heal itself of disease.” It’s those healing tools she teaches.
Before founding her wellness consulting company, Dr. Ginger was Director of Corporate Wellness for Bruton Smith’s Sonic Automotive and Speedway Motorsports (NASCAR racetracks). Previously, she served as Director of Nutritional Wellness for The Cliffs Communities, National Nutrition Educator for Garden of Life, and was Spa Director for The Trump Spa at Mar-a-lago, Donald Trump’s private club in Palm Beach, Fla. She has also worked for a team of cardiologists, treated patients in a sports rehab facility, and was a consultant for one of the world’s largest developers of fitness products, as seen on TV.
Since then, Dr. Ginger has devoted her professional life to public health education. She helped to develop the first policy for the “Surgeon General’s Report on Physical Activity & Health for Women,” and today she continues as a consumer health advocate, using her intimate knowledge of the human body, physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, and preventive and alternative medicine to weave together meaningful disease-busting consumer education information through her magazine articles, blogs, TV and radio appearances, and speaking engagements nationwide. She has also been an instructor of nutrition and digestive & metabolic physiology for the Health Educator Program at Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida; voted the #1 medical wellness spa in the world by Spa Magazine, has taught in the “Chef’s Choice” program at Johnson & Wales University School of Culinary Arts in Charlotte, NC, and had her own weekly segment on The Naturally Savvy Show on www.radiomd.com and is an invited authority as one of Dr. Oz’s Sharecare Experts.
Her new book, The Rainbow Juice Cleanse, (Running Press. April 2015) shows readers in all stages of health how to eat their fruit and juice their veggies with an entire chapter dedicated to sugar and fructose and it’s weight-gaining, disease promoting, and aging-accelerating side effects and presents over 50 simple, healthy, delicious rainbow food and juice recipes to enjoy.
An avid adventure sport athlete, in her spare time, Dr. Ginger enjoys all water sports, rock climbing, rappelling, mountain biking, triathlons, and horseback riding. She spent 31 days climbing her way to the summit of her first mountain, North American’s tallest mountain, Mt. McKinley/Denali in Alaska; standing 20,320ft. tall. Her adventure sport expeditions have been featured on OLN/Outdoor Life Network and ABC’s Wide World of Sports. The U.S. Marines have honored her with their “Portrait of Pride Award” for her determination and perseverance in one of her adventure sport competitions, where she was 1 of 25 nationwide female finalists in the Global Extremes: Mt. Everest 4-Runner’s of Adventure competition. She also had her own monthly health column in the national outdoor enthusiast’s periodical, “Backpacker Magazine.” Dr. Ginger was the recipient of the “Fitness Physician of the Year” award by New York Strength and “Personal Trainer of the Month” by ISSA/International Sports Science Association.
As the former Mrs. Virginia U.S. 2013 and 4th runner up in the 2013 Mrs. United States Pageant, Dr. Ginger is a big supporter of helping women stand up and speak out against domestic violence and teaches them how to recognize the signs of abuse- that often start with emotional and psychological abuse- to help prevent women from getting caught up in the “cycle.”
Dr. Ginger still continues to revel in any type of outdoor activity, and is a fanatic Bikram (hot) yogi, veggie juicer, gardener, and relishes her daily detox sessions in her Clearlight Infrared Sauna. She has enjoyed various acting opportunities, including, The Crew, with Burt Reynolds, Richard Dryfess, and Jeremy Piven, Rodeo Girl, with Kevin Sorbo and Sophie Bolen (coming Fall of 2015) and she will be filming Crowning Jules with the Labadie twins in the summer of 2015.
